My mother and I wore our white gloves and best coat and hat. The shop was glorious. I of was a little girl in the 1950's and what stands out in my memory were the life size porcelain animals - huge dogs in particular. When my mother needed a dress for a special occasion her go to was the Vendome shop. They had ginormous lighted glass display cases where the jewelry was displayed.
